Matt Sweetwood had it all; He went to graduate school at a top Ivy League college, had a successful photo supply business, had a beautiful wife and five wonderful children. All was great in his life until 1996 when his wife and mother of their five children left them all permanently.Matt had sole responsibility of his five children and, due to one of the biggest divorces in New Jersey history, he was bankrupt.

This is Matt’s story and we wanted to share it with you. It’s inspiring, powerful and proves that lives obstacles only make you stronger.

“I was heart-broken, my mind was blown and my butt was kicked. I was overwhelmed."

Even though the future looked dark and hopeless, Matt didn’t give up. He was able to grow his business making him financially stable again, and acted as Mr. Mom and Mr. Dad for his children.

"My children are all in their 20's now. Four have attended top colleges, one is just married, one  helps run my business, and most gratifying to me, all five are successful, happy, and kind human beings despite their odds.”

Going through such hardships has given Matt a new perspective of what it means to be an accomplished man. It isn’t just about how much money one makes, or how macho you are. It’s about something else entirely. He believes that “Being an accomplished man means being open-minded to learning and improving, caring for others, expressing feelings and trying to be the best human being one can be.”
